Delta and KLM seat selection: apply the rule to the operating sector
Delta offers selection and changes during booking, in My Trips, and at check-in. KLM offers selection during booking or in My Trip, with different fare conditions. On KLM, most tickets allow a regular seat to be selected without a fee at check-in, but Light is an exception: an unpurchased seat is assigned, and changing that assignment requires payment. On Delta, Main Basic receives its assignment after check-in and does not promise that companions will sit together. Neither condition should be transferred to the other airline’s fare. If the flight or seat map is unavailable in one booking system, ask which reference and service channel apply to the operating sector. These seat policies do not establish cross-system synchronization or a universal partner-seat benefit. Keep existing purchase details while resolving a missing assignment before paying again.
