Delta seat assigned after check-in: what to do with a missing seat number

If your check-in information does not yet show a seat number, first identify the fare and review the trip rather than assuming the ticket includes advance seat choice. Delta provides seat viewing and changes in My Trips and at check-in. Its seat-map help also explains that an occupied seat has been selected by another passenger. Do not read an occupied map position as a seat that can simply be claimed by choosing a different check-in channel. If your boarding pass directs you to the gate for an assignment, follow that instruction and ask Delta staff about the specific reservation. The retrieved policy confirms assignment after check-in for Main Basic, but does not establish that every missing seat number means the same thing or guarantee a particular gate assignment. Keep the booking confirmation available while resolving the missing information.
