Can I still redeem an older Air New Zealand credit in September 2026?
For the older cohort, the published deadline to make a new booking was January 31, 2026, which has already passed as of this research date. The later December 31, 2026 travel-completion deadline does not reopen redemption. Newer credits follow an issue-based window instead, so establish the credit’s processing date before choosing the rule.
What this answer depends on
- Air New Zealand credit issued on or before September 30, 2022, compared with credit issued from October 1, 2022.
- Credits received on or before September 30, 2022 had to be used to book by January 31, 2026, with travel completed by December 31, 2026.
- Credits received from October 1, 2022 have twelve months from processing to book, with a further stated travel window.
- The newer-credit help page specifies that all travel must be completed within 355 days of the new booking, qualifying its broader twelve-month wording.
Important exceptions
- The FAQ heading says “before” September 30, while the formal terms say “on or before”; the formal terms expressly cover that boundary date. No extension or revival of expired credit is promised. The source must be rechecked before future use because these dates are historical policy milestones.
