Will using part of a refundable Air New Zealand credit remove my cash-refund option?
Yes. Under the direct-credit terms, a credit from a refundable fare remains refundable only until any part is used, subject also to validity. Once you use even part of it, the remaining balance becomes nonrefundable. Decide whether you need a cash refund before making a small redemption from the credit.
What this answer depends on
- A direct Air New Zealand credit derived from a refundable fare; not a credit whose original fare was nonrefundable.
- A credit from an originally refundable fare remains refundable until it is used in whole or in part.
- After any part of the credit is used, the remaining balance becomes nonrefundable.
- Buying a refundable fare with credit does not convert that payment into cash: a subsequent refund returns the credit-funded portion as credit with its original validity.
Important exceptions
- The source expressly limits these terms to direct purchases and excludes agency, corporate, group and Travelcard credits. The rule does not make an originally nonrefundable fare refundable. Exact eligibility and any legal exception need an issuer-specific assessment.
