Will my Aeroplan Priority Reward voucher return when I cancel the award?

The voucher has its own return conditions. Aeroplan returns a Priority Reward voucher on cancellation only when travel on that reward has not begun and the voucher has not expired. A points refund does not by itself establish that the voucher will also be restored.

What this answer depends on

  • An Aeroplan Flight Reward booked using a Priority Reward voucher; voluntary cancellation.
  • On cancellation, a Priority Reward voucher returns only if travel under the canceled reward has not commenced and the voucher has not expired.
  • Priority Reward vouchers are nonrefundable once travel begins.
  • A different Priority Reward voucher cannot be applied after the Flight Reward has been ticketed.

Important exceptions

  • This is not a promise that every reward cancellation is free or that an expired voucher can be replaced by a newer one. Fare-specific cancellation fees and timing rules still apply. The policy addresses the voucher used on the particular ticketed reward.

  1. Find the specific voucher used for the award and its expiration date. Do not substitute the validity of another voucher visible in the same account.

  2. Check whether any travel on this reward has already occurred. Evaluate that condition independently from the unused status of the remaining flights.

  3. Ask for both parts of the settlement: the points or cash outcome and the original voucher’s outcome. If restoration is unavailable, obtain the reason rather than assuming an account display error.

  4. After a qualifying cancellation, verify the voucher record and the points transaction separately. Keep the original voucher identifier with the canceled reward for follow-up.
