Can cancellation credit be split among the passengers in an Air Canada booking?
An eligible AC Wallet credit can be distributed among passengers who each have an Aeroplan account. But that distribution option does not apply when the booking was paid with AC Wallet: the returning value goes back to the wallet used to pay. Establish the original payment source before deciding who will receive the credit.
What this answer depends on
- Eligible multi-passenger cancellation offered as AC Wallet credit; distinguish fresh payment from a booking already funded by AC Wallet.
- Each passenger receiving a share of an AC Wallet cancellation credit must have an Aeroplan account.
- When the canceled booking was paid with AC Wallet, the credit returns to the original paying wallet instead of being distributed among travelers.
- Once posted, wallet credits cannot be moved into another AC Wallet.
Important exceptions
- This is an allocation rule for eligible wallet credits, not a general right to divide any Air Canada voucher or agency credit. An agent-issued ticket may require the agent to establish eligibility and process the cancellation. A private reimbursement arrangement between travelers is outside the airline’s wallet policy.
