Will choosing AC Wallet make the refundable part of my ticket nonrefundable?
Yes. Air Canada says that choosing AC Wallet converts the unused ticket value, including any originally refundable portion, into a nonrefundable wallet credit. Compare the cash-refund and wallet outcomes before accepting. A wallet balance is not a temporary holding account from which you can later request the same cash refund.
What this answer depends on
- An eligible Air Canada booking being voluntarily canceled with AC Wallet offered as the credit option.
- Selecting AC Wallet turns all eligible unused ticket value into credit; an originally refundable portion then ceases to be refundable.
- AC Wallet credits cannot be transferred to another wallet after posting.
- Fully refundable fares are excluded from AC Wallet eligibility in the detailed terms, so not every refundable booking will be offered this choice.
Important exceptions
- The wallet terms contain a distinction between a refundable component and an entirely refundable fare. This page does not resolve an individual ticket that appears to fall into both descriptions. Compensation credits for airline disruptions are a separate subject and are not used to establish these voluntary-cancellation rules.
