Why can’t I use Virgin Points for an upgrade in My Booking?
Virgin Atlantic currently separates the channels: eligible paid upgrades may appear in My Booking, but it says upgrades using Virgin Points cannot currently be completed there. Use the airline’s assisted points-upgrade route instead. A missing online cash offer also does not prove no upgrade can be discussed; the airline directs travelers to contact it when the option is not shown.

What this answer depends on
- Virgin Atlantic published cash-versus-Virgin-Points upgrade channels; not reward-seat availability or points valuation
- A cash price in a seat map is not automatically a points redemption offer. Virgin’s guidance sends points-upgrade requests through an assisted channel rather than My Booking. Repeatedly trying to apply points in the cash flow is therefore not a reliable way to test eligibility.
- The airline says to contact it when an upgrade option is not displayed. That is a way to clarify the booking, not evidence that an upgrade is available or that an agent can guarantee one. State the requested cabin, flight and payment method so the answer concerns the right product.
- Virgin Atlantic says upgrades using Virgin Points cannot currently be completed in My Booking and require an assisted route.
- Virgin describes online paid upgrade options and directs travelers to contact it if an option is not shown.
Important exceptions
- No reward inventory, points amount, tax quote, minimum balance or success guarantee is supplied. The airline’s exact-ticket conditions still apply. Choosing a different seat within the same cabin is not the same transaction.

Does no online button mean the flight has no upgrade seats?
The published guidance does not support that conclusion; it directs travelers to ask the airline when the option is absent.
