How does a same-day flight change work with WestJet?
WestJet’s rules exclude charter flights, the only or last flight of the day, and itineraries with overnight connections. UltraBasic restrictions also matter; a frequent-flyer benefit should not be assumed to override that fare’s restrictions. WestJet publishes a same-day change-fee benefit for Gold and Platinum members, excluding UltraBasic. A fee benefit does not create a seat on another flight. Check eligibility, the available replacement and the amount actually quoted before giving up your original itinerary. Use the original seller if the ticket came from an agency, another airline or a third-party booking website. Explain whether you want an earlier or later flight and whether there are connections or other passengers in the booking. Keep the original flight until the change is confirmed. After an exchange, check the new departure details and obtain the boarding documents for the flight you will actually take.
Important unknowns
- No universal same-day fee or seat availability is quoted here.
