What fees and fare differences may apply when changing a flight with LATAM?

LATAM’s public servicing instructions distinguish changes before travel from changes after travel has begun, and whether the first flight on the ticket is affected. Those distinctions can change the calculation even when the desired replacement flight is the same. Ask for the penalty and replacement-fare calculation separately. An example amount in a trade-policy explanation is not your ticket’s published fee. Likewise, changing a reservation is not the end of the transaction: LATAM requires the ticket to be reissued for a voluntary change. If an agency is handling the exchange, ask it to explain the fare conditions used and provide the resulting ticket. If LATAM takes over an eligible agency ticket, establish who will handle later requests before agreeing. Compare the complete journey and any services you need after the change. A cheaper flight displayed in a fresh search does not by itself establish the value available through exchange, credit or refund under your existing ticket.
