SWISS seat assignments: reserved seats and automatic check-in seats
Without a reservation, SWISS assigns a seat at check-in. The availability of an assignment does not mean that selecting another seat is always free. A different seat can cost extra depending on the fare and category. SWISS distinguishes Classic, Preferred Zone, and Extra Legroom products, with inclusions and pricing varying by flight and fare. Check the actual seat description rather than treating every forward or aisle location as the same product. For a previously booked seat, the stated check-in conditions allow a change to the same or a lower category without an additional check-in seat-change fee. That is different from changing an automatic assignment. Before accepting a new charge, identify which situation applies and review the traveler, flight, and resulting seat information. A free change condition does not itself establish a refund of an earlier payment.
