Changing an Austrian Airlines seat: compare the new price and category

If the new seat costs more, Austrian requires payment of the difference. An advance reservation applies to one flight leg and represents a seat category rather than a guarantee of a particular number. Check both the sector and category before accepting the change. If you also change the flight but keep the same route, Austrian describes transferring the advance reservation, with a higher-price difference payable. An operational reassignment is a different situation from voluntarily choosing another seat. Austrian says it tries to retain the purchased category; if it cannot, the advance seat reservation is refundable. Keep the original receipt and replacement category when making that request. Do not treat a voluntary preference change as automatically qualifying for the operational-change refund.
