Why can a canceled TAP Miles&Go award leave some cash charges unrefunded?
Ask for the cash components by receipt code, not as a single tax subtotal. The program excludes specified YR and YQ components and its award ticketing service charge from refund. An eligible mileage return therefore does not establish that every amount originally paid in money must also come back.
What this answer depends on
- A voluntary refund of a TAP Miles&Go award ticket; distinguish airport taxes, carrier charges and ticketing service charges.
- The award-refund terms identify YR carrier surcharges and YQ amounts as nonrefundable.
- The award ticketing service fee is nonrefundable.
- The airport-tax request and mileage-refund request use the separately stated refund channels.
Important exceptions
- The source’s labeling of YQ and YR is reproduced by code, without asserting that those codes establish a legal tax classification. This voluntary policy is not substituted for a carrier-caused disruption remedy or an applicable mandatory rule.
