Will canceling a ticket bought with JetBlue credit reset the credit’s expiration?
Do not use a purchase-and-cancel cycle to assume an extension of a JetBlue credit. Previously used credit keeps its original expiration treatment when a new booking is canceled, and expired credit may not be redeposited. Check the age of the payment source before authorizing the new cancellation.
What this answer depends on
- A new JetBlue booking paid wholly or partly with previously issued travel credit.
- Previously issued JetBlue credit returned after cancellation retains its original expiration date.
- Travel credit that has already expired will not be redeposited when the later booking is canceled.
- JetBlue does not extend travel-credit expiration dates; ordinary credit must be applied to a purchase before expiry, although travel may occur later.
Important exceptions
- This article does not predict the refundability of the current fare. The ticket must first allow the proposed cancellation outcome. It also does not treat a booking deadline as permission to cancel after expiry and recover the original credit.
