Why might an EVA refund be split across payment accounts after ticket reissue?

Reconcile the refund with the full payment history, not only the card used most recently. EVA describes allocation to the accounts that funded the ticket, with value beyond the original ticket payment passed to the next listed account. A split return can therefore require checking more than one statement.

What this answer depends on

  • An EVA ticket paid through more than one original payment account across its ticket history; voluntary refund.
  • EVA calculates refunds against the payment accounts used for each ticket.
  • If the refund exceeds the amount paid on the original ticket, the balance goes to the next listed account.
  • Online refunds return to the original card or bank account; changes to a lost or closed card are handled with the card issuer.

Important exceptions

  • The public note does not establish every possible multi-payment scenario or a universal posting order. This is not permission to choose a different recipient account. An exact-ticket calculation remains necessary.

What to do next

  1. Collect the initial ticket receipt and later reissue receipts. Match each payment to its date, amount and account identifier without sharing complete card details in ordinary correspondence.

  2. Ask EVA or the ticket seller for the allocation of the approved refund across the original payments. Distinguish a changed card number from a genuinely different payment account.

  3. Check each affected account and keep the approved allocation separate from the bank’s posting stage. Do not submit a second refund merely because only one component has appeared.

  4. When a component is missing, report its specific amount and payment reference. For a replaced or closed card, ask the issuing bank how the return is routed.

  5. Original and reissued ticket receipts, payment dates and masked account identifiers, refund approval and bank postings.

Should the entire refund necessarily go to the most recent card?

The airline’s allocation follows the ticket’s original payment accounts, not that assumption.

Does a split refund prove I was refunded twice?
