British Airways multi-city and one-way flights: choose the right structure
BA’s multi-city guidance describes booking up to six flights together and using different arrival and departure cities for an open-jaw journey. [British Airways](https://www.britishairways.com/content/en/us/flights/multi-city-flights) Start with the route structure, then compare dates and fares. If you intend to travel overland between two cities, do not mistake that gap for a flight included in the ticket. Add its cost and timing to your plan before deciding that the multi-city option is good value. The booking format does not by itself establish a cheaper fare, flexible conditions, free stopover or permission to enter a country. Review the complete dated offer and the requirements for the actual travelers. Pay only after all intended air legs, self-arranged gaps and ticket conditions have been checked together.

One-way, return or open-jaw?
A one-way purchase covers the direction you select. A return request pairs an outbound journey with a return. An open-jaw plan deliberately leaves a geographical gap, such as arriving in city A and departing from city B after travel you arrange yourself. Use these labels to express the trip rather than to predict its price. Compare a complete return with the sum of alternative one-way purchases only when the airports, dates, cabin and needed services are equivalent.

Build the multi-city search
Enter flights in travel order and verify the date on each line. BA’s published multi-city limit is up to six flights in one booking. 1 That limit is not confirmation that every combination of airports, airlines or fares will price successfully. Write any ground segment alongside the flight list. Do not assume the airline supplies transport between different arrival and departure cities. Before buying hotels or other travel, confirm that the flights leave the time you intended for each stay.

Compare the complete offer
Read the operating airline, cabin and fare conditions for each selected flight. Ask what is included in the ticket price and which services you would choose to add. If the result is sold by an agency, also record the ticket issuer and the channel responsible for servicing the booking. Do not assume that a lower advertised one-way price is a better choice than a complete multi-city quote. Compare total cost and the consequences of managing more than one ticket.

Finish with a sequence check
Read the final itinerary as a continuous plan from departure to return. Identify every overnight arrival, airport change and separately arranged journey. Save the complete ticket receipt. A fare changing during comparison requires a fresh decision on the new offer; it is not proof that a particular weekday will produce a lower price.
