Can I walk between LAX terminals without leaving security?

LAX describes post-security pedestrian connections linking its terminals. Its guidance treats the American Eagle remote facility separately, using an airside shuttle connection rather than the ordinary interterminal walk. Use the current airport route for the actual gate area; do not assume every location labeled as part of the airport is reached by the same walkway.

What this answer depends on

  • LAX secure-side interterminal movement after required arrival/check-in controls; not an international arrival customs guide
  • The airport’s interterminal guide distinguishes the secure-side pedestrian network from public-side travel. When already eligible to remain in departures, look for the connected airside route before following a street or baggage-claim exit. This article does not determine whether your arriving flight has unfinished entry processing.
  • LAX describes an airside bus connection for the remote facility. A general statement that terminals are walk-connected should not cause you to miss that exception. Identify the actual gate area on current signs and follow the shuttle instructions rather than trying to reach a remote boarding area on foot.
  • LAX describes post-security pedestrian connections linking its main terminals.
  • LAX identifies an airside shuttle connection for the American Eagle remote facility.

Important exceptions

  • No bus-stop or gate number, airline terminal assignment, walking-time guarantee or immigration exemption is supplied. Construction and operational instructions can change a local route. This is not a claim that every arriving passenger can bypass customs.

What to do next

  1. Confirm the actual onward gate area with current airport or operating-airline information.

  2. Finish any required arrival controls before assuming you can remain in the secure departure system.

  3. Use the post-security pedestrian links for the applicable main-terminal route.

  4. When directed to the American Eagle remote facility, follow the current airside shuttle branch instead.

  5. Keep the onward boarding pass and current gate-area information accessible, with the operating carrier identified.
