Why did my Virgin Points Plus Money cancellation not return the points discount?
Points Plus Money follows the published cash fare’s rules. Virgin says points used for the discount can return on fully refundable fares, but not on a voluntary cancellation of a nonrefundable fare. First identify the product; a booking with both points and money is not automatically a refundable reward ticket.
What this answer depends on
- A published cash fare bought using a Virgin Points Plus Money discount, not a full Flying Club reward seat.
- Points Plus Money exchanges Virgin Points for a discount on a published fare, whose fare rules govern the ticket.
- For a fully refundable fare, the points used can be refunded to the account.
- For a voluntarily canceled nonrefundable fare, the discount points are not refunded under the stated rule; only one Flying Club account supplies the discount for a booking.
Important exceptions
- The rule here is limited to voluntary cancellation. It does not cover the separate airline-operation exception in the terms or override a specific waiver. A paid fare that permits changes is not necessarily fully refundable.
