TAP paid-seat changes: cash refund, reusable value or no refund?

Identify what changed before requesting an ordinary paid-seat refund. A voluntary fare change can qualify when the reissued ticket already includes selection. Involuntary loss of the purchased service can also qualify.

Important unknowns

  • The source does not establish the outcome of an individual request. Confirm current instructions with the airline; the effective date of these provisions is not established.

What to do next

  1. Identify the account

Buying a cabin upgrade does not refund the seat-booking payment. Voluntarily canceling the seat instead allows its value to be reused for one year from purchase through TAP's Contact Center. Failing emergency-exit eligibility does not qualify for a refund.

  2. Use the official recovery route

After an aircraft change, TAP tries to assign the same seat area; a window or aisle is not guaranteed. Keep the receipt and replacement assignment, and explain whether you changed the fare, bought an upgrade or lost the service.

  3. Keep your request focused

These rules concern ordinary selection, not adjacent-space products.
