Singapore overlong booking names: use the MRZ and arrange follow-up

Use the passport's machine-readable zone (MRZ), its coded name lines. Singapore's online fields accept A–Z, with twenty-five given-name and thirty family-name characters maximum.

Important unknowns

  • The source does not establish the outcome of an individual request. Confirm current instructions with the airline; the effective date of these provisions is not established.

What to do next

  1. Identify the account

For an overlong surname, use any MRZ-truncated given name; otherwise keep its MRZ form. Fit as much surname as possible. For overlong given names, use the MRZ truncation or fit available characters.

  2. Use the official recovery route

Complete the booking, then contact Singapore for assistance. If the MRZ has no double chevron, enter the full name in surname and select the no-given-name checkbox.
