Why is Qatar Airways Cash + Avios missing when I try to hold a booking or buy an award?
Cash + Avios is not a universal payment switch. Qatar Airways excludes award tickets, Hold my Booking and Stopover bookings from this option. Establish which purchase path you are using before moving Avios or relying on a mixed-payment budget.
What this answer depends on
- Pre-purchase Qatar Cash + Avios product eligibility; no refund or post-ticket change instructions.
- The published Cash + Avios terms exclude award tickets and award upgrades.
- The same terms exclude Hold my Booking and Stopover bookings.
- Eligible flights must be marketed by Qatar Airways and operated by Qatar Airways, a oneworld carrier or a partner airline.
- Suppose a traveler has found a regular itinerary but wants time to coordinate with a companion. Moving into the hold workflow changes the payment question. The traveler should compare the cost and conditions of holding with those of buying now, rather than interpreting the absent slider as proof that the Avios balance is broken.
- These are Qatar’s published product restrictions. A partner flight sold with a different marketing code or a separate agency payment arrangement needs its own confirmation. A Qatar logo somewhere in the itinerary is not enough.
Important exceptions
- The source does not explain every booking-engine error, guarantee a conversion value, or establish that a held itinerary can later use any particular payment combination. “Stopover booking” is the source’s product wording; do not automatically classify every long connection without asking Qatar.
