What happens to the other passengers’ booking code when I cancel one Lufthansa traveler online?
Lufthansa says an online cancellation for selected travelers splits the reservation automatically. Passengers who remain booked keep the original booking code. Select names carefully and verify both the cancellation confirmation and the surviving itinerary; a shared original reference does not mean everybody must be canceled together.
What this answer depends on
- An eligible Lufthansa online cancellation selecting individual passengers rather than the whole booking.
- Eligible online cancellations can be made for selected travelers rather than all passengers.
- The reservation is split automatically and the remaining travelers retain the original booking code.
- The published online cancellation and refund route is available up to two hours before departure, subject to the ticket conditions.
Important exceptions
- The published process does not guarantee that every booking can be serviced online, or that a selected passenger is entitled to cash. It does not specify here what reference the canceled traveler receives. Do not infer refund approval from the mechanical creation of a split record.

Does selecting one passenger determine the refund amount?
No. The fare conditions and ticket use still govern the settlement.
