Why is my KLM Flex refund lower than the total price I paid?
A refundable fare does not necessarily mean every charge on the original receipt is refundable. KLM’s voluntary-refund page excludes booking fees, reissue fees and payment surcharges, and says a Flex refund can itself be free or subject to a fee depending on the fare. Reconcile the itemized calculation before treating a smaller return as an error.
What this answer depends on
- Voluntary cancellation of an Economy or Premium Comfort Flex ticket; not a disruption-based full refund.
- For the stated Economy and Premium Comfort cancellation treatment, booking fees, reissue fees and payment surcharges are not refunded.
- Flex tickets are refundable either without charge or subject to a fee, depending on the fare paid.
- Business Class refund conditions can vary by flight and must be checked in the original conditions rather than inferred from the Flex examples.
Important exceptions
- This page does not apply those exclusions to an airline-caused disruption or determine any separate statutory right. It does not calculate Business Class or partially used ticket refunds from a generic fare label. Agency service fees, if any, require the agency’s own terms.
