Finnair lost property: identify the airport and the item

For ordinary items left on a Finnair aircraft arriving at Helsinki, or lost at Helsinki Airport, use Excess Baggage Company. Its online inquiry uses the Airport/Airline category.

Important unknowns

  • The source does not establish the outcome of an individual request. Confirm current instructions with the airline; the effective date of these provisions is not established.

What to do next

  1. Identify the account

For items at other Finnish airports, contact the airport information desk. For an item left onboard an aircraft outside Finland, contact that airport’s lost-and-found office.

  2. Use the official recovery route

Exceptions matter. Tobacco and alcohol left onboard go to Helsinki Airport Customs Passenger Control. In Finnair’s published Finland custody guidance, passports from flights to or from outside Schengen go to Finnish Border Control; Schengen-flight passports go to Excess Baggage Company.

  3. Keep your request focused

Identify the flight, airport and item before asking where it is held. The passport distinction concerns the flight’s Schengen status, not your nationality. This does not determine replacement travel documents or permission to travel.
