Why can I finish EVA online check-in but still be unable to print my boarding pass?

EVA lists separate restrictions on printing a pass after online check-in. They include an unsupported departure airport, an itinerary containing a sector that does not support self-print passes, and certain telephone or online card purchases made without EMV 3-D Secure. In the stated card-verification case, the card used for payment must be inspected at the airport for the first flight. Completing check-in does not remove that verification step.

What this answer depends on

  • EVA/UNI international online check-in and the published self-print boarding-pass restrictions; not all card payments or all airports
  • EVA says that a route containing a sector ineligible for self-print service can prevent printing for every sector in that itinerary. A successful first check-in screen therefore does not prove every onward pass should be printable. Save the message and arrange the instructed airport collection rather than assuming the reservation has disappeared.
  • The airline describes a particular non-3-D-Secure telephone/online purchase scenario, not a requirement that every traveler present every payment card. When the booking displays this verification requirement, ask EVA how to resolve it before travel if the original card will not be available. Do not invent a substitute document or promise that a screenshot will be accepted.
  • EVA lists unsupported departure airports and an ineligible sector anywhere in the itinerary as reasons self-print boarding passes may be unavailable for the journey.
  • For stated telephone/online credit-card purchases without EMV 3-D Secure, EVA requires inspection of the payment card at the first-flight airport check-in.
  • EVA directs passengers unable to print after check-in to airport staff for boarding-pass collection.

Important exceptions

  • No workaround for required payment verification is supplied. A third-party booking may need seller clarification, but that does not waive an airline instruction. No fixed arrival allowance, passport eligibility or self-print availability for an unlisted airport is inferred.

What to do next

  1. Read whether the result says check-in failed or check-in completed with airport pass collection.

  2. Check whether the restriction refers to airport support, an onward sector or payment-card inspection.

  3. If payment verification is required, follow EVA’s first-flight airport instructions and clarify any unavailable-card issue with the airline.

  4. Collect the boarding document at the airport counter and finish the remaining travel-document process.

  5. Have the booking, exact check-in result, itinerary, original travel documents and the payment-verification information requested by EVA.
