Before using Delta Upgrade with Miles: eligibility and refund form
Delta's Upgrade with Miles covers eligible Classic/Extra travel within the U.S. 50 on select DL-coded Delta/Connection flights booked through Delta's website, app or Reservations. One account upgrades all reservation passengers; certificates, eCredits, vouchers and discounts cannot combine. Availability, upgraded-fare rules and additional taxes/fees apply.
Outside valid Risk Free Cancellation, redeemed miles do not return, even on refundable fares. Refundable paid cash returns to the card; redeemed value becomes nonrefundable eCredit. Valid Risk Free cancellation instead restores miles and paid cash.
Important unknowns
- The source does not establish the outcome of an individual request. Confirm current instructions with the airline; the effective date of these provisions is not established.
What to do next
- Identify the actual offer
Read the product label before comparing balances. Write down the original experience, the proposed premium product and the flights included. If the offer or receipt uses a different name, ask Delta which terms govern it instead of treating every use of miles as the same transaction.
For a shared reservation, list the travelers you want upgraded and compare that intention with the offer's passenger scope. Identify the account you plan to use and the other instruments you hoped to apply. Resolve a mismatch before authorizing a redemption rather than trying to repair the funding arrangement afterward.
- Compare the purchase and exit scenarios
Record what you would spend in miles and cash, what travel you would receive and the terms shown for the upgraded fare. Then ask what would return if you canceled that exact ticket. Label each possible return separately: a card payment, account miles or a credit for future travel. Do not describe all three as equivalent to getting the original payment back.
Keep the offer and resulting ticket record together. If you later seek a refund, use the product name and the original allocation when asking Delta to explain the proposed result.
- What remains unresolved
This guide does not establish your eligibility for Risk Free Cancellation or define its time window. It does not quote an upgrade price, a redemption value, a refund processing time or available space. Changes, cheaper reissues and individual credit restrictions need their own review; the pre-purchase comparison here should not be used to invent those outcomes.
