Changing your SkyMiles country of residence: prepare residential proof
SkyMiles uses the account's primary address for country of residence. A country change requires proof bearing your name and residential address, not a business address or PO box. Delta requests one listed document, such as government ID with the new address or a utility bill dated within 60 days, and may ask for more information.
Requests can use the online Identity Verification Form or mail. Written correspondence needs your signature and SkyMiles number.
Important unknowns
- The source does not establish the outcome of an individual request. Confirm current instructions with the airline; the effective date of these provisions is not established.
What to do next
- Compare the account with your evidence
Start by reading the primary address currently recorded in your account. Write the intended replacement exactly as you want it recorded, then compare it with the document you plan to submit. Look for missing apartment details, inconsistent spelling or a document that shows a different person.
Choose evidence that makes the requested change understandable without a long explanation. If no listed option fits your circumstances, ask Delta what it needs rather than substituting an unrelated document and assuming it will work. The examples above are not a promise of approval.
- Make the request easy to follow
State the current country, requested country and the address being changed. Keep copies of the material you send and any acknowledgment in a private place. Avoid including identity evidence in a group travel conversation where it is unnecessary for planning.
When you receive a response, check the actual primary address as well as the country label. If something is still wrong, identify that field and refer to the original request. A clear follow-up is more useful than sending the same packet again without explaining the remaining problem.
- Keep the decision within its scope
This guide concerns the membership address record. It does not determine immigration residence, tax residence, travel-document eligibility, booking currency or a status benefit. Those decisions can use different definitions. Changing an account field is not a substitute for checking them independently, and the review has not established the result of any particular verification request.
