Delta eCredit expiry: disruption choice or voluntary cancellation

If Delta cancels or significantly delays or changes your flight, and you decline alternative rebooking, you may choose eCredit instead of a refund. That credit is valid for five years from issue and can cover unflown ticket portions and prepaid seat upgrades or Preferred Seats.

Important unknowns

  • The source does not establish the outcome of an individual request. Confirm current instructions with the airline; the effective date of these provisions is not established.

What to do next

  1. Identify the account

If you voluntarily cancel without such a significant Delta disruption, the eCredit is valid for one year from the original ticket date, less applicable cancellation fees.

  2. Use the official recovery route

Before accepting credit, identify which event generated it. Record the relevant issue date or original ticket date and the displayed expiry. These clocks describe the selected cancellation situations; other instruments have their own conditions. Restoring a credit does not itself establish a new expiry.
