Why does my Cathay booking not qualify for the member 24-hour cancellation benefit?
Being a member and canceling on the purchase day are not sufficient by themselves. Cathay’s benefit also checks how and when the ticket was booked, membership attachment, the first departure and the request channel. Use the deadline in the confirmation and verify every condition before relying on the benefit.
What this answer depends on
- Cathay’s member cancellation benefit for a direct booking; not an assessment of separate statutory cancellation rights.
- The member benefit requires a qualifying direct booking more than eight days, or 192 hours, before the first scheduled flight and the required membership association during booking.
- The refund request must use Manage Booking within the displayed twenty-four-hour free-cancellation period; Customer Care, chat and the ordinary refund form are excluded from this benefit’s request route.
- Excluded bookings include Asia Miles awards, rebooked or reissued tickets, split bookings and bookings using Hold your fare; promotion-code terms also matter.
Important exceptions
- The source uses a strict “more than” condition for the advance-booking interval. This page does not resolve an exact-boundary transaction or override local consumer rights. It also does not treat an Asia Miles award as a miles-and-cash paid fare.
