What should I check before booking an international flight with American Airlines?

For an American international booking, document planning must include every destination and connection country, not only the final stop. Record the exact airports, marketing and operating carrier for each segment, compare the reservation name with the travel document and verify current entry or transit rules with the responsible authority.

Important exceptions

  • The result may differ depending on direct vs connecting.
  • The result may differ depending on all countries entered or transited.
  • The result may differ depending on marketing vs operating carrier.
  • The result may differ depending on adult vs minor.
  • The result may differ depending on single ticket vs separate tickets.

What to do next

  1. Write the country sequence

List every country entered or transited in the selected travel order.

  2. Record every segment

Capture each airport, marketing airline and operating carrier before checking transit rules.

  3. Check traveler context

Use citizenship, document type, trip purpose, dates and minor status with the relevant authorities.

  4. Compare the name

Match the reservation name to the travel document before purchasing the ticket.
