Does buying a First or Premium seat make my Alaska Saver ticket refundable?
A paid seat or cabin upgrade does not automatically remove the underlying Saver cancellation restrictions. Alaska explicitly keeps those restrictions in place after these purchases. Check the base fare and the upgrade as separate items before deciding what value a voluntary cancellation can recover.
What this answer depends on
- Alaska Saver ticket with a separately purchased Premium Class seat or paid First Class upgrade.
- Saver restrictions continue to apply after purchasing a Premium Class seat or a paid First Class upgrade.
- Alaska states that purchased Premium Class seats and paid First Class upgrades are nonrefundable under the described rules.
- Any ordinary Saver partial-credit eligibility remains tied to cancellation at least fourteen days before the first flight, with a fifty-percent credit.
Important exceptions
- This is not a statement about every possible fare exchange into a different ticket product. It concerns the seat and upgrade purchases expressly described on Alaska’s Saver page. A genuine ticket reissue must be reviewed using its actual new fare terms.
