What carry-on rules may apply on an itinerary with Air Canada?

Air Canada publishes carry-on size and item rules, with fare, route and aircraft exceptions. The airline operating the flight and exact ticket must be checked because partner flights and Basic-fare conditions can differ.

Important exceptions

  • Fare, route and aircraft exceptions must be matched to the exact booking.
  • A Basic-fare or partner-operated itinerary can use conditions different from the general rule.

What to do next

  1. Published item rule

Confirm the current size and item requirements.

  2. Fare and route

Use the exact ticket rather than a general assumption.

  3. Aircraft

    Check operating-flight constraints.

  4. Basic fare and partners

Resolve the current ticket and operating-carrier conditions.
